Make-A-Wish Arizona adds two Valley leaders to its Board of Directors

June 03, 2016

PHOENIX (May 3, 2016) – Make-A-Wish Arizona is excited to welcome Cox Media Vice President Fran Mallace and Cisco-Webex Commercial Area Sales Manager Shane Marquis, to their Board of Directors.

Mallace joined Cox Media/Cox Communications in 1992 as a national sales manager and, since that time, has held a number of roles with increasing responsibility in Arizona, Atlanta and California operations. She has been awarded the Southwest Cable Association Pioneer Hall of Fame (2014), one of the Most Powerful Women in Cable (2009, 2010), Ad Person of the Year (2009), and three Cox Vision Awards.  She has twice served as President of the American Advertising Federation for the Phoenix Chapter.

Her current corporate leadership role also extends to community leadership positions, including board service for Chrysalis Shelter for Women, and The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Fresh Start Women's Foundation and honorary chair for Free Arts for Abused Children in AZ. She hopes to use her marketing and fundraising experience, as well as her experience as the mother of two daughters, to make a difference in future wish kids’ lives.

Marquis started with Cisco Systems, Inc. in 2000, holding various positions ranging from individual contributor sales roles, to global operations and sales management positions, covering states such as North Carolina, Georgia and Arizona. He was the vice president of the board for the DC Ranch Homeowners Association and a founding member of the Saint John XXIII Dad’s Club.  As a husband and father of six children, Shane believes in the importance of giving back to the community.

“We are so excited to welcome these two individuals to our Board of Directors,” said Elizabeth Reich, president and chief executive officer for Make-A-Wish Arizona. “Fran and Shane bring new skills to our board that will help us as we work toward our vision of granting the wish of every eligible child in Arizona.”

Make-A-Wish Arizona is the founding chapter of the now international wish granting association and grants approximately 365 wishes per year. With more than 540 children diagnosed annually with a life-threatening medical condition that would make them eligible for a wish, the chapter is dedicated to raising the funds to expand their reach throughout the state.
