Make-A-Wish® Arizona Wish Ball raises more than $3 million toward future Arizona wishes
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 5, 2019) – Make-A-Wish® Arizona is pleased to announce that the 2019 Make-A-Wish Arizona Wish Ball, presented by Phusion Projects, raised more than $3 million in a single night. The funds will help grant more than 300 future wishes to Arizona children with critical illnesses.
Stephanie Linnenkamp and Amy Walters co-chaired this year’s sold-out event with the theme, Wishes in Bloom, enjoyed by the more than 1,000 guests in attendance. Corporate sponsors included Title Sponsor Phusion Projects; Superstar Sponsors Harley Davidson of Scottsdale/The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation, Discover and Grimaldi’s Pizzeria. With their support, 100 percent of the dollars raised Saturday night will be used to grant wishes to Arizona wish kids.
“This event continues to amaze us every year, with the generosity of our sponsors and guests,” said Elizabeth Reich, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Arizona. “It is our vision to reach every eligible child in Arizona and provide them with wish experiences that can transform their lives. Events like our Wish Ball prove that others are invested in our vision as well.”
At this year’s Wish Ball, six live auction items raised more than $500,000 and the Fund-A-Wish auction collected more than $800,000 before long-time donors Bob and Renee Parsons pledged a special $1 million donation.
“Renee and I know that there is nothing more powerful than a wish,” said Bob Parsons. “It gives hope. It provides healing, love and excitement. For all those reasons, Renee and I are proud to make a Fund-A-Wish donation of $1 million dollars.”
The room, including multiple wish families, gave Bob and Renee a standing ovation for helping the evening make a goal that will help fund more than 300 future Arizona wishes.
“The theme, Wishes in Bloom, was on point considering how many of our wish kids truly blossom post-wish experience,” said Reich. “We are so proud to be able to share our wish kids, their stories, and their families with our Wish Ball guests. And we are so grateful our attendees believe in our mission and want to see it continue and grow.”
