Sura’s wish to go to Disneyland was just what Sura and her family needed after a frightening diagnosis.
As a 4-year-old girl, there is nothing Sura has dreamt of more than meeting her favorite Disney princesses.
Yet, her dreams of getting to the park were halted when she was diagnosed with cancer.
”We were finishing a strenuous treatment process when her nurse and social worker told us they could refer her for a wish through Make-A-Wish Arizona,” said Crystal, Sura’s mother. “The timing was impeccable.”
That Sura selected Disneyland came as no surprise to anyone – especially when she found out she could meet multiple princesses at the park.
“Sura was constantly excited, thinking and talking about all of the different rides and characters she would get to see at Disneyland,” said Crystal. “But to see the memorable moments Make-A-Wish created for her even before we were in the park, that was something.”
Sura is full of smiles and enjoyed both the little and big elements that were a part of her big day. In fact, the first thing Sura talks about when asked about her trip is, “I got to go on an airplane!”
“This was the first time I saw Sura become shy due to an endless amount of attention she was receiving,” Crystal said. “She was completely wowed; it was a blast.”
Sura will tell anyone and everyone about her favorite Disney princesses she met.
“I saw Anna and Elsa,” Sura said. “Snow White and Cinderella.”
Throughout her day at the park, if Sura wasn’t excited about her encounters with the princesses, she was enamored by the countless number of toys she saw throughout the park. And the fact that she would get to take some home as souvenirs.
“This gave our family an opportunity to have a lot of fun together,” said Crystal. “It was a break we all needed after Sura’s diagnosis and treatment. The fact that we were able to enjoy it with Sura as a family, that makes it priceless.”
